The Unknown Instrument

I found this thing in my barn. My father's mind has wondered and he can't tell me where it came from or what it is. It looks like some kind of dulcimer with a moveable thumb pick over several strings. The printed scale suggests some sort of student or instructional device. Maybe Dad was right - "the gypsies brought ya, kid."

When plucked, it sounds delightful.
